2015年7月にオーストリア・クレムス（ウィーン近郊）で開催されたPURPLSOCカンファレンス（Pursuit of Pattern Languages for Societal Change）において、パターン・ランゲージの考案者であるクリストファー・アレグザンダーからのメッセージが紹介された。紹介したハイヨ・ナイス教授が今年3月にアレグザンダーから預かってきたものだ。ひとつの記録して、紹介しておきたい。

Message from Chris Alexander to the Krems Conference

Dear Conference Participants,
I wish you all the best for the First World Conference on Patterns and Pattern Languages. I am quite pleased that many people from different countries are gathering in my home country Austria. My family is actually from Vienna. I am also very pleased that you have assembled to continue the work I have started with my colleagues in Berkeley and elsewhere. Especially the fact that you are applying and researching this work in a number of disciplines is quite remarkable to me, and I wish you a great gathering and a positive outcome of your efforts. With warm wishes.

カンファレンスの参加者のみなさん、
パターンとパターン・ランゲージに関する最初の世界大会の成功をお祈りします。いろいろな国からのたくさんの方々が、私の母国であるオーストリアに集まっているということを、とてもうれしく思います。私の家族はまさにそのあたり、ウィーンの出身なのです。しかも、私が米国バークレー等で同僚たちと始めた仕事を、引き継いで続けるために集まっているということも、非常にうれしいことです。特に、それを様々な分野に適用・研究しているということは私にとっては衝撃的なことであり、みなさんの奮闘が前向きな成果につながり、素晴らしい会になることを祈っています。
