Charity concert by Mr.Hiromi GOU
On November 25th at Akasaka Prince Hotel, Mr.Hiromi GOU held a charity concert for CASPAR's activity and made a profit of 4,388,983 yen. We would use this precious funds for CASPARS activity as effective as we can.
About CASPAR's projects and future policies
1. In Negros island, the Philippines, three centers for protecting children were established in Bakodoro, Marsha, and Escarante. These three facilities undertake their role not only as centers for protecting very young children but also as school for children, place for women to learn how to read and write, place for villagers to get together, and emergency center at certain times.
2. At Chenkam village, Payao prefencture, in northern part of Thailand, a dormitory which is for girls who are saved from brothels or who are exposed to danger of being sold, is under construction.
  We were asked for the funds from Ms. Radawan, an member of the Diet in Thailand, and applied it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However it did not pass because CASPAR have not had 20000000 yen. The system requires that CASPAR has to have the fund before construction and would be given a subsidy of half the sum after the facility was establised. However the application to get a subsidy was passed by the Ministry of Postal Services in 1996 and we have begun to build a dormitory for the present.

Like the case that Japanese man abused infant in the Philippines and was accused, problem that children have become victims of prostitution has been raising. Fr.Shay Cullen, who has been saving sexually abused children gave a lecture, at Anri catholic church, Naha city, on the report and projects from the spot. About 160 persons were attended.

Fr.Shay Cullen opened a care center for children in Orongapo and, cooperating with NGOs, is trying to make a law with which we can demand death penalty of abusing children sexually. He pointed out "the number of children who have been sacrificed to sexual abuse by as sex tourists is 60000 to 100000 in the Philippines and is 15000000 in Thailand, Sri Lanka and India in all."

"There are a lot of Japanese sex tourists. However there is no law which prohibits child pornography in Japan. Since sexual abuses of children are continuing again and again, the problem is not only prostitution happening abroad but also happening in Japan", he explained. "Those who know the facts and keep silent are as same as those who permit the problem. Let's rise up for establishing organization to get together", he appealed.
