Yoshiko Takahashi ( ‚‹´ —ÇŽq )

 Yoshiko Takahashi is Associate Director of International Center and professor of Keio University in Japan. She earned her Ph. D. in Applied Linguistics from Stanford University in 1987. Professor Takahashi established the first organizational ombuds office in Japan in 1998 and led the office for four years (2 terms). The office that she helped to establish covers issues of dispute resolution in work place and conflict resolution education for the nineteen schools and one hospital that make up the Keio educational system. Her training includes a seminar at United NationsiUNDP/UNFPA/UNOPSjin New York for their grievance panel on sexual harassment. Professor Takahashi has also served a consultant to local government boards in Japan on the issues of ombudsing and has written on the issue for a number of Japanese media. She is presently coordinating organizational ombuds in the Asia and Pacific Region.
 She teaches communications and conflict management courses at both undergraduate and graduate school at Keio. Her research interest is to investigate the influences of culture on conflict management and find and establish effective dispute resolution systems. She coauthored a national guideline on how to deal with sexual and gender harassment in organizations. Since 2003 professor Takahashi is registered as a Brain Trust member and on the Experts Roster of CMG (Conflict Management Group) in Cambridge, MA in USA.
