July 2001, NPO in Japan and have built up partnership. Senior-net Learning Center
was built in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California USA. I visited the Learning
Center and carried the plan forward with this research
in mind. The Center was running smoothly when I was informed by SNP
that the opening ceremony was scheduled. However, with the terrorist attack
on 11 September, I have decided to postpone the individual visits to the Center.
@I
will carry on with my plan as soon as the date of the opening ceremony is set.

a world conference for the cooperation in the community based on IT. In
carrying out this eJapan Community Computerization Matrixf,
the difference between Japanese and American world@economy,
and the progress in Japanese community was reported. This was based on community
computerization of CSPP which is already put into practice and is highly
evaluated as an index of the computerization in USA.@
@Looking at the promotion of computerization from the viewpoint of improving the standard of living and activating the economy, the conclusion of the following problems were presented. How much progress in computerization is being made, how the community is being activated by computerization, and what is necessary in the process.
@The individual members and members from each organization had a discussion
on their connection in the community. The meeting was carried out for solving
each otherfs
problems through exchanging opinions and knowledge, and building up cooperative

eThe New Start of E-community in the 21st Centuryfj
@On 13th November (Tue), prior to the wide process of community computerization,
J-Matrix held a meeting in a conference room at the head bank of Development Bank
of Japan. The meeting was lead by Yuji
Nemoto, who is the SNP administration
officer and also a banker. I believe that giving information and exchanging
opinions on electronic community, would have a big influence on our future
society. We learnt about the use of CSPP Readiness Guide and the condition
of electronic community in America from Seth Fearey who established Matrix and is
a community information consultant in USA. We also had a detailed explanation
on the conducting policy and the plan of J Matrix.
@SNP's movement
of promoting people and community to use technology of information
communication, is most active in Kansai area. In Kanto area, where I live,
there is the J-Matrix club which I mentioned above. Carrying out the index in
computerization of the community would help further development and construction
of new corresponding network within each community and organization.
At that day, we studied and talked about Networked World.
- What is the Networked World?
- Is
your community ready for the Networked World?
- What
is your vision for a net worked community?
- Who
do a readiness assessment?
- Why
should you help network your community?
- Quality of Life (increase convenience, reduce road trips, improve access
to services)
- Economic Development (provide infrastructure local enterprises need to
grow and compete)
- Competition (a key checklist item for attracting and retaining todayfs
@@businesses and workers.
Ms Maya Shinohara and Ms Mayumi Takanohashi(Faculty of Policy Management)
are understanding the meaning of my research. Futhermore, they translated
ActivityReport, SNP and LS311pages as volunteers. I appreciate very much both of them.(Kumiko Suganuma)
