　　　　　　　　New Style and Complement of Communication

　　　 Through Construction and Progress of“SNP”“LS311”
　

　　　The goal of my research is to construct new knowledge system and to producedesirable human environment. This will be carried out by integrating a　research on “senior’s participation in communication media” with “a practical field” which is an accomplishment through participation in NPOs and volunteered works.

　In addition to this, I am hoping to prevail further idea on relation of environment and human. At the same time, I am planning to investigate and research on information media and information processing / communication, moreover on relation between information and social system. Therefore, I set up a theme of this research on relation between seniors and communication media. It is important to put this into practice by linking with real society.

　　2. Reason
　　
　I take part in the activity group called “SNP”. The aim of this group is to make seniors improve their life styles by using computers. We try to re-activate people and community  through the use of information and communications technology. We approach this  communication project by realizing the spread of communication media in network community.

　　　Two-thirds of the members are either active in business or in retirement. Recently, there seems to be a new direction on this activity through individual network community. This is a free-participation-style that is independent from company’s publicity. It is a style which cooperates deeply with other groups and institutions in society, especially in local community. In other words, members participate voluntarily from plan making and preparation. This is different from financial social contribution.

　　　The collaboration of these groups constructed the partnership between USA and Japan NPO’s this July. Therefore, we decided to establish senior net learning center　in around Los Angels California. This learning center enables seniors in United States including Japanese-Americans in suburbs of Los Angels to deepen interaction with seniors in Japan through Internet. They learn the way to write E-mails from beginning.

　　　This is the new way of seniors’ international exchange.

　　　　After the entrance of Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus, I joined a group of seniors named “LS311” which promote international exchange and computerization in Fujisawa City EN-US, a center of the activity. The group is consisted of many seniors who had lived in foreign countries or have much experience of travelling around the world. They act mainly in EN-US North Mariana Islands in Rota, Cowra in Australia, Auckland in New Zealand, Gardena of California.

They are now willing to re-construct computerization in order to make participants’ interaction more active. Our goal is that to have seniors understood many pieces of information and to have them contribute to the society through their global experiences by using networks. I think it very interesting, in terms of my taking a role in promotion of computerization from the beginning.
